We are still in Waitomo today and tried a new
adventure, the Black Odyssey. The Black Odyssey is a dry caving adventure that lets you test yourself as you twist and turn through the Ruakuri Cave's main network and hidden passageways. Included are rock traverses, ziplines, and rapells. Cristina and I had a great time.
Afterward, we went for a hike in the nearby forest and then headed toward Taupo, our next stop. Once in Taupo, w
e decided to take a short walk into town. About an hour later, we arrived in Hell and decided to have dinner.
The salad was good, but the pizza was just soso. Oh well, what can you expect from Hell. After dinner, we had to walk all the way back to the motel and we were exhausted by the time we arrived.
The walk both ways was alongside the lake which was beautiful. There were several streams going into the lake and they had steam coming up from them. I reached down to touch the water in one and it was very hot. I also noticed a bunch of people taking pictures across the lake but it didn't make a lot of sense because sunset was already over and
it wasn't all that pretty. I followed along like a sheep and took a couple of pictures too. I think the reason is because the mountain on the other side of the lake is Mt. Doom from Lord of the Rings. Here it is, in case I am right. I'll have to watch the movie again when I get home.
