Tramping through New Zealand

In New Zealand, people "tramp" instead of "hike". So, my friend and I will be tramping, and traveling through New Zealand for 3 weeks. Toward the end of the trip, we will backpack (tramp) for 4 days on what is supposed to be one of the "the finest walk in the world", the Milford Track,

I am carrying a Delorme inReach personal tracking device on the trip and plan to have it on most of the time when I am out and about. With the inReach, I will be able to send and receive text messages from anywhere. In addition, the inReach will send my position to a map every 10 minutes.
